6th Lesson: AEPP

May 31, 2007

THE END

That’s it, exams are over…well not quite as we still have the school examinations, but thats hardly a challenge!

Anyway, a good test today -could’ve been worse!- with informatics.

Subject 1 was plain theory (the usual)

Subject 2 was interesting with some sort exercises (such as transforming an algorithm written in steps into a structured program etc.)

Subject 3 (also known as the ‘Stamp Collector Algorithm’ :) demanded the following algorithm:

  • Algorithm Subject_3
  • sum<-0
  • greek_stamps<-0
  • foreign_stamps<-0
  • print “Give the price:”
  • input price
  • print “Give origin:”
  • input origin
  • while price<=(1500-sum) repeat:
  • –sum<-sum+price
  • – if origin=”greek” then
  • —-greek_stamps<-greek_stamps+1
  • –else
  • —foreign_stamps<-foreign_stamps+1
  • –end_if
  • – print “Give the price:”
  • –input price
  • –print “Give origin:”
  • –input origin
  • end_rep
  • print “Total sum is:”, sum
  • print greek_stamps
  • print foreign_stamps
  • if sum
  • –print 1500-sum
  • else
  • –print “No available money”
  • end_if
  • end Subject_3

Man, I cant believe its over! I’ll be depressed!

5th Lesson: Physics (yeah!)

May 30, 2007

Damn, it was easy! Much easier than I had expected it to be, especially the 4th subject…

Nevertheless, the 2nd subject was most interesting (fortunately); thats why many people failed to understand why a diver sees the sun higher than its actual position when he is underwater (yes, it was a multiple-choice question, but required a justification)!

Another question (of the same subject) that seemed to make life difficult for many demanded the relation between the wave lengths of the sound emitted by a moving source (S -λ) and the sounds heard by 2 observers (A-λ1 & B-λ2) which was:

λ=(λ1+λ2)/2

and could be easily proved if we added these equations:

λ1=λ-Us*T
λ2=λ+Us*T

(Theory from Doppler Effect)

where Us-the speed of the source
and T-the period of the sound

These were the most interesting questions…
The end is now sooo close……

~1 lesson to goooo!!!~

4th lesson: Business Management

May 26, 2007

Now that I’m done with that @@@@ing lesson I feel much better!
The subjects were -fortunately- easy and clear, so I hope I’ve done well..

Next lesson to follow is Physics on Tuesday a rather tough lesson given the fact that the range of exercises and questions is limitless!

2 lessons to go until freedom!!!

Melancholy…(?)

May 25, 2007

I think I’m gonna miss this year…It has been -by far- the most interesting and amusing (and stressing) year of my school life, which btw ends this month.

I must admit I’ve been extremely lucky to have had great profs about whom I’ll write more after the end of the exams (May 31th -yeah!)…I’m not quite sure I want to go to university; it’s a big change & challenge. I only hope I ‘ll keep in touch with these people, that I love and admire so much!

See what I’m talking about??? Thats how you end up when you study this bloody lesson (business management that is) for 2 days non-stop!!! *sigh*

I just saw a parrot!

May 24, 2007
A parrot on the roof! That’s what my sister’s saw just a minute ago on the top of our neighboor’s roof!
Sweet, isn’t it? I can imagine the cat coming (he he he)…… :-)

By the way, I just created a new countdown at the end of the page (the old one was outdated -fortunately!)…

3rd lesson: Maths vol. II

May 24, 2007

At last a decent test!!!

For those of you who are interested or just curious to find out about today’s lesson (which was, by the way, a really good test -especially the 4th subject):

I havent -yet- checked the above answers, but I believe they wont have any mistakes.
Generally speaking, though, the answers provided via the Internet are usually unacceptable!

Anyway, this whole buzz around the final exams has got on my nerves…A whole myth has been thouroughly built about them, so that outsiders -even people who have already been through this experience- seem to dread them! But as the tourist ministry’s campaign correctly states:

“Live your myth in Greece!”

~3 Lessons to go till freedom!!!~

2nd lesson: Maths & Statistics

May 22, 2007

Done with that, as well…

I think I’m starting to get disappointed by the level of the exams -it’s almost as if I’ve tried for nothing. I mean that they are far more easier than i -and many others- expected…But of course It’s too early to judge!

The theory and the exercises were easy to solve:

  • Subject 1 had a definition, some R/W sentences, find the derivative of some functions etc
  • Subject 2 gave a function [ f(x)=ex+3 ] and asked for the derivative and a limit
  • Subject 3 was more interesting as it demanded a good knowledge of possibilities
  • Subject 4 was statistics with no special interest…

Nevertheless, I now find out that many people didnt do well. I cant figure out why, though…

Next lesson is Maths vol. II (this will be much more tough, thought as it’s a row lesson)

"Find Madeleine"(c) -I wonder…

May 21, 2007

Too much Madeleine?
It’s been almost a month since we first heard of the abduction of Madeleine McCann…
Suddenly I realise that the whole issue has been surprisingly exposed by the Mass Media world wide. And to avoid any misunderstandings of my sayings, I mean it has been overexposed compared to other similar cases that -unfortunately- occur, but we never hear of…

I’m starting to think that the whole story could be a well-made scenario set up in order to gain money of advertisement, given the fact that the amount of money raised by donations is enormous & that the story of Madeleine has already ‘travelled’ worldwide.

On the other hand, though, it’s possible that Madeleine’s parents are indeed doing anything possible to find their daughter (evidently much more than other parents who have also found themselves in the same situation).

In case the latter scenario comes out to be true (will we ever know, I wonder), then I ‘ll owe a huge appology to Madeleine’s parents for having questioned their intentions & grief.
Until then please allow me to remain sceptic towards the story.
Sorry, Madeleine,

a ‘passer-by’

1st lesson: ESSAY (Greek Language)

May 19, 2007

Done with the first lesson! I did well, I think, although you can never really know before the results come out…

To be honest, the atmosphere before entering the classrooms and while waiting for the tests was unbelievable:

-Everyone was stressed and couldn’t wait for the test to finish!
-People were crying without having seen the papers…
-Naturally, I was stressed as well but I think I overtook it the moment i saw the text and the exercises. The subject was all about humanistic values & ideas, and how education affects the forming of a humanistic consiousness…I was expecting sth less theoretical, but all in all, it was a subject fertile for further analysis.

Anyway, next lesson is Maths & Statistics vol.I (it’s also a subject common to all rows, so generally speaking it cant be that tough)..

5 lessons to go till freedom!!!

Vote for THE RESTITUTION of PARTHENON MARBLES

May 17, 2007

Please, visit this site:

http://www.parthenonuk.com

to get informed about the effort being done for the restitution of Parthenon Marbles to their home country (Greece)!

If you agree with the movement, you can vote, sign the petition and let other people know, too…

It’ s not only a matter of justice (no official document of the Othomanic empire was ever found that could justify the steal of the marbles), it’s also a matter of aesthetic: the marbles are bound to their natural environment (not to mention the irreversible damages that they undertook during their stay at the British Museum)…
