Wall Drawing..!

Drawn on summer 2006, this is the second drawing on
my chamber’s wall…

…and this the first attempt to decorate my room (obviously that includes the light switch!) and give it a ‘customised look’. In fact, anyone that enters my room for the first time thinks that I’ve gone nuts or sth (Evidently, I dont claim he’s wrong)…

School Books’ Drawing- Vol. 2

That’s a sketch I drew at the back of my french notebook (which I believe has now gone to the recycling bin)…

Thats a sketch with the same topic, much older though, drawn on one of my T-shirts. I haven’t worn it since then…In fact, It’s safely stored in a box away from the destructive hands of my mother!

Της πουτ@@@ς γίνεται στα ελληνικά πανεπιστήμια…

Προσωπικά αποφεύγω να χρησιμοποιώ τον όρο “ελληνικά πανεπιστήμια” και προτιμώ να χρησιμοποιώ το “εκπαιδευτικά ιδρύματα“. Νομίζω ότι αυτό χαρακτηρίζει απόλυτα την κατάσταση της τριτοβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης:

• τα πανεπιστήμια και οι λοιπές σχολές έχουν χάσει πλέον τον (εκ)παιδευτικό, ερευνητικό, πολιτισμικό ρόλο τους και έχουν μετατραπεί σε ‘ιδρύματα’ περίθαλψης κάθε αδέσποτου φοιτητή (όπως απαιτεί να ονομάζεται), ο οποίος όχι μόνο αδιαφορεί πλήρως για το αντικείμενο, αλλά με τη στάση και -κυρίως- με τη δράση του επιβαρύνει και την όποια εναπομείνουσα ορθή λειτουργία. Με λίγα λόγια, το πανεπιστήμιο έχει μετατραπεί σε ένα άσυλο απαρκάριστων, οι οποίοι βρέθηκαν σε ένα χώρο που δεν τους εκφράζει μόνο και μόνο για να ικανοποιήσουν τον διακαή πόθο των γονιών τους και να αποκτήσουν έναν ‘τίτλο’, τον οποίο εξάλλου ποτέ δε θα χρησιμοποιήσουν ουσιαστικά ( τι στο διάολο, στην Ελλάδα ζουμε, χάθηκε το ρουσφέτι?).
• το μεγάλο πλήγμα των σχολών, οι φοιτητικές παρατάξεις, κυριαρχούν και ελέγχουν σήμερα σχεδόν κάθε πανεπιστημιακή -και όχι μόνο- λειτουργία, όχι επειδή εμπνέουν με τις θέσεις και την ιδεολογία τους (δεν υφίστανται τέτοιες πλέον), αλλά επειδή εξασφαλίζουν της επιτυχία σε εξετάσεις, την πρόσβαση σε υψηλά κλιμάκια και την αγορά πτυχίου ή μεταπτυχιακού (σύμφωνα με έγκυρες πληροφορίες το κασέ φτάνει και τα 6.000 ευρώ)…
• …δυστυχώς η δράση τους δε σταματάει εκεί…Απόδειξη οι συνεχιζόμενες καταλήψεις με αφορμή τη γνωστή καραμέλα (βλ. άρθρο 16), οι οποίες είχαν ως συνέπεια την αναβολή της εξεταστικής -με λίγα λόγια, πάει κι αυτό το εξάμηνο. Το παιχνίδι παίζεται στις γενικές συνελεύσεις των φοιτητών. Καθώς οι παρατάξεις παρουσιάζουν τις θέσεις τους σε πλαίσια, οι φοιτητές πχ. που είναι κατά της κατάληψης (θέση που υποστηρίζει η ΔΑΠ) είναι αναγκασμένοι να ψηφίσουν υπέρ όλου του πλαισίου της εν λόγω παράταξης, παρόλο που μπορεί να περιέχει θέσεις με τις οποίες δε συμφωνούν!

• Απ’την άλλη μεριά, οι φοιτητές που δεν ανακατεύονται με τις παρατάξεις, είτε καταφεύγουν σε σχολές στο εξωτερικό (έχουμε την πρωτιά στο ποσοστό εξαγωγής φοιτητών στην ΕΕ), είτε μένουν και προσπαθούν να επιβιώσουν και να διακριθούν με την αξία τους, χωρίς κομματικά κριτήρια. Υπάρχουν βέβαια και αξιόλογοι (από άποψη ικανοτήτων και μόνο) φοιτητές, οι οποίοι χρησιμοποιούν τις παρατάξεις για να αναδειχθούν.

Πόσο πια θα καθυστερήσει αυτή η αξιολόγηση?

Why Avoid Final Exams:

Yesterday, while sitting in my room, I caught myself staring

into space -or at least thats what I thought I was doing. Actually, I was -unconsciously- processing the sketch I’d drawn on my closet the other day- and found it too macabre.

That startled me, so I compared it with other sketches I’d made during summer holidays (they seem so far!).

The outcome was that stress & pressure by the upcoming exams have -seriously- hurt my sensitive emotional world…

Anyone who has been through this wearing experience will certainly agree on that. It’s not the exams themselves that make me nervous; I believe it’s rather the whole ‘myth’ that surrounds them, as well as, the expectations of the others that upsets me…

Besides haven’t really made up my mind yet as for which school to choose, but thats not the point.

My advice: Try not to get upset with things that will probably be forgotten after a couple of

months! It’s just not worth it!!!

School Books’ Drawing -vol. 1

Drawing school books is certainly one of the most common and favourite activities of one’s school life. As mine ends this year, I decided to publish every sketch I managed to save from my old (and rather worn out) books..

The quality of the pictures isn’t great as they were shot with the digital camera I won on the competition I mentioned before (no comments…), but you can certainly get the main idea!

So, lets see:

• This used to be the last page of my maths book. I found it too dull, so I decided to make it a little more interesting. Maybe I should propose to the national educational bureau to decorate the -ancient- highschool books, especially maths, so that students wouldn’t freak out with the idea of studying complex numbers, functions etc.

• And thats the last page of my second maths book (some algebra, statistics & possibilities).
  Same material, same motive, same subject…

At this point I must point out that the above scetches were not made during classes.
Generaly speaking, I’ve always had a tendency to draw on any material other than plain paper -on walls, clothes, closets (that freaks out my mom). Maybe I’ll publish some samples later on.

To start with: "e^ip+1=0"

This is the sketch that provided me with my first digital camera…
It won a national comics competition titled “Mathematics, Students & Mathematicians” [what an ingenious and original title! ] on November 2006.
But anyway, the camera functions just fine!
